Set up for blue-water cruising, HALCYON VI has cruised the waters of the North Island of New Zealand, crossed the Tasman and extensively explored the east coast of Australia from Lizard Island in far north Queesland to Port Davey in Tasmania. She is equally at home day tripping, an excellent entertainment platform and great for fishing.
Running shots
This gallery of running shots really shows her handsome lines and excellent posture in the water.
Accomodation
Accommodation comprises two generous master cabins with queen size berths and full ensuite, as well as an additional twin berth cabin forward that serves as an office. The conversion of the flybridge seating to a double berth provides luxurious accommodation for eight people. The main saloon presents the ambience of a relaxing social lounge and family room and avoids feeling dominated by table tops and large TV screens, instead a discreetly fitted entertainment screen that is raised or lowered at the press of a button. Positioned aft, the galley is an entertainers delight, featuring an electric drop-down window opening to the alfresco seating area, functional design, ample fridge/freezer and pantry space with high-quality brand appliances.
Flybridge
Since Halcyon VI is an enclosed flybridge design there is always a lot of attention given to bridge access, either from the cockpit, saloon or both. In the case of Halcyon VI that’s strictly an internal thing. A wooden handrail curves around a wide stairway to a flybridge that is the command centre of the vessel. The full-width helm is well equipped with three navigation screens as well as all that is necessary to provide the information and systems to keep the four Volvo Penta IPS engines running smoothly. The suite of Raymarine electronics includes access/control of the three Multi Functional Displays, HD Digital Radar and the HD Digital Fish Finder. The Foxtel and CCTV cameras monitoring the anchoring system, cockpit, saloon and engine room can be viewed on this network. Twin custom-made SMG helm chairs are supported with a starboard side bench seat. This is a comfortable entertainment and social area with a wet bar and fridge plus a lounge settee that converts to become an extra double berth. Aft on the upper deck, a full teak slatted bench seat is finished with removable cushions and there is a second joystick control making docking a stress free event.
Engine Room
Since her launch Halcyon VI has been fastidiously maintained and updated. The electronics are current state of the art Raymarine technology with three 15.4” gS MFDs running Lighthouse III software at the centre of 24” HD Radome, C Zone integration, digital cameras, AIS, 60STV Satellite dome all upgraded in the last 2 years. The Volvo IPS600 have done 2,350 hours and are in excellent condition. The IPS drives were overhauled in 2017 with the recommended upgrades from Volvo, since then they have done 500 hours.

True to form, the Volvo Penta IPS makes the boat feel so nimble it’s hard to imagine you are actually in a 65 footer. Backing up close and manoeuvring is only a touch of the controls and you can place Halcyon VI right the way you want her.
